Our World Needs Action Now

April 22.

“Dear Earth,
I’m Sara, I’m 11 years old, and today is your day. I am very lazy to write letters, except to my grandmother and to you.

I am writing to ask for your forgiveness. I see that you are suffering and we are not doing enough to take care of you. Many adults don’t understand what they are doing and that is not right. Every day more people throw and mix garbage, there are more vehicles that pollute and less trees to give us the air we breathe.

I wish we could all give back to you for everything you give us. I want to show you that we care about you.

The only way to do that is by example.

So I will start collecting and separating garbage for recycling. I will continue to use less plastic. I will look for different options and take better care of what I have, so that it will last longer. In addition, I will walk or ride a bike, whenever I can, instead of asking my parents to take me by car.

I will turn off lights and appliances at home when I’m not using them. And I will also share it with my friends on Discord and TikTok.

I hope you feel that there are many of us who give you everything we can and value what you give us: air, water, a climate to live in and an incredible nature that never ceases to amaze us.

Thank you for your patience and for understanding us. Although I know you know we could do much more.

If nature lives in freedom, balance and harmony, why don’t we follow its example?

Thank you for your help, we know that we have a challenge ahead to help you, and that there will be bad people who will only want to harm you, but it will be because of people like me that we will know that you will make it through with the help of the majority, no matter what it costs or how long it lasts.

Happy day to you,
I love you,
Sara.”

It’s time to do more and ask for less. You will never know when all will be lost, and money, power, fame and recognition will have been for absolutely nothing, if we do not generate real changes.
Starting with some of these:
-Talk and share with neighbors, friends and family to take action. This is one of the simplest and most effective ways to make a difference.
-Buying from companies that use resources responsibly and are committed to reducing emissions and waste.
-Save energy at home by using LED light bulbs, washing clothes in cold water and switching to energy-efficient appliances.
-Change the home energy source by installing solar panels or asking about other renewable options.
-Walking, biking or using public transportation will reduce GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions.
-Eat more vegetables and fruits to significantly reduce environmental impact.
-Discard less food, trying to buy only what is needed and composting leftovers.
-Reduce, reuse, repair and recycle when you can.

Happy Earth Day. Today and every day.
