Let’s not live to be happy, let’s live being happy

What is happiness? They say that happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony.
A state so desired, and at the same time, so different for each one of us. Let’s see the points of view of great characters of our history about what this concept comes to mean.

Aristotle: happiness is the highest aspiration of all human beings. It is a way of life, achieved through the development of the best virtues.

Epicurus: happiness is achieved through balance and temperance, embodying phrases such as: “Nothing is enough for those for whom enough is little”. In this line, he defends the idea of working not so much to obtain goods, but for the love of what one does.

Kant: happiness is an obligation, but, at the same time, our actions must make us worthy of deserving it.

Nietzsche: I am opposed to the concept of bliss as happiness. Bliss would be to have no worries, no startle; happiness, on the other hand, is vital force, fighting spirit against all obstacles that limit freedom and self-affirmation.

Bertrand Russell: Happiness can only be achieved through love and gratitude. No one can attain happiness without effort, for leaving selfishness behind and building bonds of solidarity with others is a permanent task.

Science has shown that happiness can be beneficial for your body because it increases life expectancy, improves the immune system, the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, sleep, etc., your relationships because it helps in romantic relationships, relationships with children and friendships and the quality of your work: it improves your ability to handle stress, boosts your creativity, improving the quality of your work.

At TOTEM Branding, we define happiness as the action of making our clients true protagonists of their story, encouraging them to raise their voices, express their ideas, and bring simple thoughts to realities that seemed unimaginable. All this would not be achievable without the help of each of our parties, so it is always a good time to thank them for their work and daily effort.

And for each of you, what is happiness, or rather, what makes you happy? Happy international day of happiness 😊.
