Global Icons that Transform a Vision into Reality

On a week like this in the year 1928 and 1955, two global icons were born: Mickey Mouse and McDonald’s. Two of the world’s most valuable brands, and their fans, have a reason to celebrate this week.

More than 90 years ago, the world was introduced to one of the iconic characters of our era: Mickey Mouse. The black and white short film “Steamboat Willie,” directed by Walt Disney, was a preview of what no one, except one person, would expect to be the dream of so many children to this day.

Talking about Disney leaves no one indifferent. Mickey has been the most popular face of a brand that has bet on entertainment, fun and illusion, which are so often needed, especially in times of crisis and conflict.
Moreover, the fact that such a powerful brand reflects values such as equality, love, freedom, empathy, among others, helps us to remember that beyond the cartoon behind it, it is necessary to understand the message being sent so that everyone learns from it, not only the youngest members of society.

Just as in the family, the values that we want to show to the world are part of us throughout our lives, and that is why we cannot overlook such essential terms for our day to day life.

Also, but some six decades ago, the first McDonald’s restaurant in history was opened in San Bernardino by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald.
The business model makes this giant one of the firms with the largest real estate in the world, which has allowed it to grow on a large scale in a considerably short time, at the hand of the renowned entrepreneur Ray Kroc (for interested minds, see the movie ‘The Founder’).

From the start as a small restaurant to today, where it has become one of the world’s leading foodservice retailers, with a total of 36,000 McDonald’s restaurants in more than 100 different countries.

A mouse and golden arches. With a net worth of $93 billion, the Disney brand has remained one of the world’s most successful and recognizable brands throughout its nearly 100-year history. McDonald’s remains one of the most valuable restaurant brands in the world in 2022, valued at approximately $40 billion.

It is clear that the brands that work best are those that bring value to society. That is why at TOTEM Branding we always seek to bring value to our clients and not just seek economic benefit without solid foundations that support the future of the company. Helping to transform a vision into reality. Learning from the best, and applying strategies that we know can help brands grow to make the world a better place to live in.
You know it, “If you can dream it, you can do it!” Walt Disney.
